COTTAGE KITCHEN

In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets---some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage.
Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.
" You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." Psalm 23:5

WINTER IS COMING TO WOBEGON

We have had a very nice Fall which I am thankful for. There has been more rain this year and that usually makes me very homesick. I am from Washington State so for those of you who think I am nuts....It is what I know to be home. I traded in the wet, misty winters for cold, snowy ones about 9 years ago. To be very honest I am not as thankful for those, although, it is nice to have snow for Christmas.

What I am thankful for today is having my grandchildren come for Christmas. We have 5 now and all will be here this year. I will have my first childrens table and am looking forward to decorating it for the kids. I am thinking of putting a plastic tarp under it to save my carpet from spills. The oldest is 5 and youngest is 11 months so I am pretty sure there will be something under the table for them. The picture above is from 2 years ago and she is the now 5 year old.
It seems like we were waiting for grandchildren for so long , wondering if we would even be blessed by them. Last year there were 3 boys to be born but one,Noah, didn't make it. The real blessing was his parents conceived at christmastime and now we have Eleanor

Our holidays are so different from what I had growing up, I have to admit it is a bit of an adjustment. Families are not as large and don't live as close together so when someone is missing from the table you really notice. My husband and I are thinking of volunteering at a shelter or inviting a student from the college next year to share our meal. With all the children married and having other commitments it can be a bit lonely so we thought we could share with others who are alone or don't have families. I enjoy bringing a little happines to others.
I also need someone to eat all those baked goods I love to make and what better candidate then a lonely college student far from home.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL

What a blessing to be planning your first children's table for Christmas.

I like your idea of sharing with one who might be far from home and making them feel loved during the holidays.

I wish you a wonderful holiday season.

Look forward to seeing your thanksgiving table! But hey, you have no 'Uncle David' to sit at the kids table with the kids! Lucky for us, my kids do have an uncle David and he fits right in at the kids table just like my Uncle David always did! Fun times!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Uncle Paul!!!

Yes, a children's table will be a real blessing! You need to adopt an "Uncle David" because no Thanksgiving is complete without one. Maybe Paul could wrap his very long legs over and around a teeny chair and entertain the grandchildren with silly tales, songs, and sounds , enough to last a life-time and insure stories that entertain too!

Really though, how wonderful for you all, God's blessings made evident for you.
